New Family Member

We received big news in our family yesterday. My niece Michelle, finally married her long time boyfriend, Scott. Scott fit into our family right from the start so everyone is very happy. Michelle always said she was not going to have a big wedding. She saw it as a waste of money and did not want the attention the bride gets, so they got married very quietly out west where they live. They didn't even invite their parents or brothers and sisters. My sister said they are just happy the two finally got married and they always knew this was how Michelle would do it so they weren't disappointed. You have to know, Michelle is a very quiet, shy, reserved, private, person, and not for being in the limelight. So this was her ideal wedding. So I'm going to be looking for a wedding piece to do. Probably will let them pick the pattern when they come home this summer. There's no way I can start it before Aug.

It's been a busy time with our parents moving yesterday but they are all moved in, now they are trying to unpack and find everything. Well...I had dog duty, my job was to keep Autumn away from the guys as they moved things in. Her and I went on so many walks yesterday. She is adjusting well to the apartment. She loves seeing all the people and the other dogs. Deciding who will be her friend and who won't. There are an awful lot of dogs in the complex. There was a day animals were not allowed in rental properties, not anymore. I'm glad, as I have my cat! We did a pretty good job yesterday but there is still a lot to do. This week we are getting ready for the yard sale Thurs-Sat. My sister is coming in Tues. to help mark everything and be there the first day. Then she has to leave Fri. morning.

I stumbled and twisted my ankle yesterday so it's really hurting. I'm just getting old. I've had so many problems with my asthma and reflux disease. I'm almost convinced my gallbladder is acting up. I have to be very careful what I eat. I'm hoping it's not that. I'm finally going to break down and call the Dr. for an apt. Hey, this is a good way to loose weight.

I have started my piece for the Virginia Tech. One of two I will be doing anyway. It's a portion of a larger piece from America's Best Loved Hymns called Shall We Gather at the River. I'm just doing part of the picture. This is progress after about 18 hours of stitching this past week.

Well until next time Happy Stitching!

First finish towards 25

I loved doing this piece. It is so cute! I've been eyeing it for a long time as it's in an old book. Sometimes the older ones are best. This will be for Briannah Grace's quilt. She's not even 2 years old so her parents chose christian as theme of her quilt and wanted a verse pertaining to healing. I thought this would be very appropriate for her.

Well the packing is coming slow but sure at our parents house. My sister-in-law came yesterday and we finished off the kitchen. We had fun doing it. This weekend is the big move!

I need to kit up my next piece and eat lunch! I'm hungry. I don't eat breakfast. Shame on me.

Until next time....Happy Stitching

I Fell Of the Wagon

I was feeling frustrated and down yesterday so ordered some patterns. Three were for charity but then I ordered the Spring and Summer Snapperlands. I had the Autumn and Winter ones. Now to find time to do them. So I changed my side roll to Finished Pieces in 2007. Also I am going to start over but go for 25 instead of 50. I made it to 21 this time so should be able to make it to 25 we'll see. Is it okay if I do that?

This piece is moving really fast. I am doing it for a baby at Love Quilts. Her parents chose Christian as theme and wanted verses with healing in them if possible. I thought this would be appropriate. It is so cute and I love working on it. I half expect it to be done tomorrow.

I love our weather. It is suppose to be close to 70 today if not reach 70. I have the windows all open to air it out after being shut up all winter.

Well...until next time Happy Stitching!

Sailor Teddy Girl is Finished

I finished this a little after noon today. This will go to Colleen at Love Quilts. It might be used for any child as it is a little young for a teenager. I decided to go with pink for the boat but wish I would have gone with yellow. Oh well....next time I'll make sure the color is right.

It's been a busy week and today I'm a little drained so just relaxing . Tomorrow I'll do more packing at my parents house. I'm not as young as I use to be!

It is so pretty outside today. Spring is here for the season finally! It's great to see the sun and have it nice out.

Well, I'm going to start my next project. It's a Christian theme has a rabit and says "All things are possible with God." Until next time.

Happy Stitching!

Sailor Girl Teddy Bear

This week's question of the week.."How do you decide which stitching blogs are worth repeat and/or regular viewings? Are there certain things you look for in particular? Are there things you wish there were more of? Less of? Is your blog a good example of what you like to read?" I basically look for blogs that show a lot of their stitching. I like seeing their progress pictures too. I also like seeing pictures of their children and scenery pictures. What I don't like is when the blog is used to vent. I don't mind someone doing it once in a while we all do that, but all the time no I won't read them then. I hope my blog is a good example of what I like to read. I like seeing progress pictures and finished pieces, and try showing them each time I blog.

This is progress on Little Girl Sailor. It is going to a young girl at Love Quilts. I'm enjoying this piece, it is very easy and moves fast. An easy piece to do these days. I hope to have it finished sometime this week. There is a lot of white in this so it may not show real well. I do have a question. I goofed in the sail boat. The post should have been yellow instead of pink. I discovered it too late to even attempt to rip it out. Should the boat itself be yellow or pink? I thought pink just for continuity. Yet yellow would be a different color. What do you think?

Well, I better go get ready for church. Until next time.....Happy Stitching!

Here's Johnny

I am going to post a picture of baby John and his mother, (my niece), Melissa. He is 4 months old now and is so cute. He smiles until he sees a camera then he just looks as if you are crazy if you think he is going to let you get a picture of him smiling. I hope to get more pictures of him next week. He is so strong. I claim he's going to bypass crawling and just go to walking. Although he can get to all 4 but just isn't quite old enough to figure out how to crawl yet. He is getting cereal now and likes that.

A lot has happened this week. The closing date for my parents house will be this coming Tues. They will move the end of this month. They had to do it when my sister and brother-in-law could both help as they are taking the piano, a desk and some other stuff back to their house.

Monday afternoon Kay will get in to town then Tuesday & Wed, Kay, mom, and I will start packing up things and start deciding what will go to the apartment and what won't. Needless to say not everything can go. What doesn't go and no one wants we will sell at a yard sell first weekend of May. Kay leaves Thurs. so then it'll be mom and my sister-in-law and I when (Beth is there which probably won't be much as she works and does have a busy schedule.) Although right now Beth is pretty sick my brother took her to ER today as she's getting worse instead of better. So the next few weeks will be busy. I think Melissa and Johnny will be there Tuesday too. I told Kay we'd put Johnny to work he's a big boy now. LOL!

I got my hair cut today. It needed it really bad, it looks so much better short. Then tonight I have to go over to church and help set up for tomorrow night. We will have our first Sat. evening Contemporary Service. It'll be the 2nd Sat. of each month.

I think we are done with the snow for this season! FINALLY! Most of the snow melted today. The next few days the forecast is to not have rain or snow and have 40's for a few days, then have 50's!. That sounds Great!
On the stitching front, I've done a little stitching but not much. I'm working on a Teddy Bear which would have been done by now but I haven't had that much time to work on it. Along with other things, I am trying to do my spring cleaning! Yea right, that's going slow too.

Well until next time Happy Stitching!

Happy Dance Sulphurs is Finished

How was everyone's Easter? I went to my parents house after church. We had a good church program yesterday. There was a lot of music. My mom and I watched Easter Parade.

I put in the last stitches of Sulphurs this morning. All that frogging I had to do, I still enjoyed the piece but was happy to have it done. This will go to a young girl at Love Quilts who chose Butterflies and flowers for her quilt. I can't wait to see pictures of that quilt. This is #20 of the 50 challenge. Yes I'm still in it. How many other people are in it? Only on me I won't reach 50 within a year I know that.

My parents house has sold. They will be having the closing soon. They do have their apartment so anytime after the closing they can move in. I'm going to be going over there a lot to help mom pack, and decide what is going to the apartment and what is not. Including all the CS pictures I did for them and my brother. Not all of them are going to be able to go. I said if any of the kids want them, they could have them.

Today I got a piece back from the framers that turned out beautiful. I love it. So I'm' posting a picture of that also.

Well until next time Happy Stitching!

Sulphurs Update

This has been slow going. I have had to frog so much. The one leaf and flower, I finally just gave up and improvised, and if I don't tell anyone they won't know. That's something from me as I'm usually very critical of my stitching and a mistake drives me nuts. I'm just anxious to get this done now. Fortunately it's going much better now. This is progress after 40 some hours of stitching.

We woke up to snow this morning. Oh well.....at least it's coming to an end. Sunday is suppose to start warming up again. We got spoiled the last few days so now we're pouting. It is April and it does snow in April in Michigan!

My vaccuum cleaner died today. I knew it was going to but it's not picking up at all now. So that's something I need to get in the next week or two.. Having a cat and as much stitching as I do, I need one. I've been having to basically hand pick things off the floor. This morning I vaccuumed and you'd never know it if you didn't see me do it.

Tonight is our Parent Program with the Adventure Clubbers and Teens. This year the teens are taking part and acting out the Easter Story. We haven't had much practice so hopefully it will go alright. With so many leaders out the person in charge of the program has had to lead instead of being able to practice like they wanted to. I'm sure it'll go okay, usually everyone does fine.

Well, until next time...Happy Stitching!
