This piece is moving right along. My first week of stitching on it and it's over 1/4 way done. It has it's sour points though. I had never run across a pattern that has one color on top half of thread and another color on bottom half of thread, one color left side, another right side. The real kicker 1 color on top of one thread and another on bottom of thread under neath it and the middle is a 3rd color. I'm just doing quarter stitches but I'm not happy it looks sloppy. Fortunately it's jus a small portion of the piece but seems like a lot. The piece is moving right along inspite of my problems on it. Not ready to throw it down just yet.
Just an update on the Food Pantry. The people have really brought in the food to replenish what "walked away." I am very happy with the way they have rallied for us and the food drive really doesn't start until June. I like the variety of food we are getting too.
I'm wondering where May went. It seems like it just flew by! Here it is almost June.

You have only worked on this for a week??? WOW! It's gorgeous. I have family out in the Southwest and it really looks just like this.
I'm glad your food pantry issues are resolving themselves, thanks to the generosity of several people. Our own food bank has had some ups and downs. Two weeks ago, so little food was donated that the volunteers got together and pooled their money to actually buy stuff for the food boxes. :( Thankfully, this week there was much more available.
To me it looks great. Think you are being to hard on yourself.
I have several John Clayton designs in my stash, and they all have odd fractionals in them. I didn't read the instructions about them properly on the first one of his I tried stitching and made a real mess of it (and it was not on evenweave which made it harder) so that piece is in the "never gonna do" pile. But when I do start one of the other three I will do two things - 1 use evenweave fabric, 2 read the fractional instructions very very carefully!! :)
Hang in there, cos his designs are so worth it - an online stitching friend has done lots of them, including Monument Valley and they all look fabulous finished.

WOW Barb! You're speeding right through the Monument Valley piece! =) I realllllly VERY much like it. My husband and I lived in Arizona for five years, and there are *certain* things I miss...like the views such as the one in this design you're working on! Thanks so much for sharing. It is looking just beautiful, and your stitching is lovely as always. =)
As far as the food pantry is concerned, I'm SO glad that it is being replenished by the congregation? and other caring people.
