Update on Love is Reflected

I'm quite sure this will not be done tomorrow, so I thought I would update now. (Besides I wanted 88 posts in 2008 and this is no. 88 so my last post for the year). I've had to do a lot of frogging on this piece but in end will be cute. I really am enjoying the piece. I have to figure out what I will do next but sort of think I will either go back to The Caretaker, or do another Love Quilts piece or start my great nieces birth sampler.

I'm so frustrated. I ordered 4 pattern books and they came yesterday. One was for a RAK and I laid it down. I went to get it 5 minutes later and still cannot find it! I am claming the couch ate it r the cat ran off with it! It's one of those mysteries. I hope it shows up!

This Friday we are having our family Christmas. It was really the only time we could do it and then it's going to be tight for some people as they have to work that day, or leave that night for work the next day. One isn't going to be able to make it because of work. The rest are out of state.

How many of you have stitching goals for 2009? I have some:
1) To finish what I start (no UF0 start)
2) To do a Thomas Kinkaide picture
3) To do a Majolein Bastian piece
4) Work more on The Caretaker
5) Do some family stitching (birth samplers and wedding sampler)
6) To stitch one Ornament a month
7) To do at least 7 pieces for Love Quilts
Is this ambitious? I hope it's realistic. We'll see how I do.

I hope you all have a Happy New Year and a great 2009. See you next year. Until then Happy Stitching!

Precious Moments Start

I hope you all had a nice Christmas. I just went to my parents house with my brother and sister-in-law for a few hours. We unwrapped gifts, then visited and came home. We didn't have a big Christmas dinner. We were going to but just didn't. It was nice and quiet and enjoyable.

Thank you for all the comments to Bethlehem. I really appreciated them. I love getting comments to my blog, especially from other stitchers, I often go to the different blogs and think, "oh they do such great stitching!" and feel jealous as I see all the errors in my stitching.

I started this cute piece the other day and is going good. It's been a while since I've done a Precious Moments piece and when I saw there was a little girl at Love Quilts who wanted Princess's as her quilt theme and it was due Feb. 1, I thought I would sign up and do this one. It'll be done in plenty of time. For some reason we just aren't getting the signups we once did at Love Quilts.

Today is a descent day right now. I may go out and walk Autumn (my brother's dog) in about an hour. I miss walking her but it's been so cold and nasty.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Bethlehem is finished

I finished Bethlehem about an hour ago. It was fun to stitch but I am happy to have it finished. I did it on 14 count Oppascent material using Gentle Arts Lavender Potpori. I think the picture shows it darker than what it actually is.
Now I have gotten out a Precious Moments Princess to do for a little girl at Love Quilts.

We have been hit by the winter storms. Right now we have almost 2 feet of snow on the ground if not two feet. We are suppose to get hit by another storm tomorrow. Today is a break. That is if you call Lake Effect snow a break! It isn't snowing right now though, it's more off and on. At least we still have power. It's suppose to warm up after Christmas but this weekend is suppose to be sleet and snow. Deal with it then I guess. Yesterday just about all the churches were not meeting (ours was one of them). Also it was so bad yesterday in our county they pulled the snowplows off the roads for a while anyway. We are going to have a White Christmas! We have enough snow this year to make up for the last 2 years of little snow.

Until next time Happy Stitching!

Almost finished and Winter Storm

I'm almost done with Bethlehem. I'm anxious to get it done. I love doing it but just monotonous in parts.

We are getting hit by another winter storm. This is the first of 3 storms to hit us between now and Tues. Guess we are being guaranteed of a White Christmas. I really thought the storm was missing us as I woke up at 6 and it didn't look like it was here but it was blowing a lot. Now it's well underway. Glad my sister beat the storm and arrived safely yesterday. She will probably go home tomorrow to beat the next storm. Although the next one doesn't sound like it will be as bad as this one it's just the add on that's bad. We are expected to get 6-10 inches of fresh snow from this storm. Not as much as first forecasted but areas south and east of us will get more and some will get ice too. Not nice today hopefully it'll clear out by the SS class party tonight.

Today I'm going to my parents where my sister and I are going to do some Christmas baking and play games with mom. Yesterday we finished off our Christmas shopping before the storm hit. Nice to have it done.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Update on Bethlehem

I have gotten quite a bit further on Bethlehem. It's moving along fast now that the middle section is done.

Saturday we had Johnny's birthday party. It was fun and noisy. I think there was something like 10 children there all under 10. Most of them were Johnny's cousins on his dad's side. He got some nice toys. His cake was so cute. Melissa made it as a dump truck and then John frosted it. They had a picture of Johnny right in the window to make it look like he was driving. All the hours put into the cake and how fast it disappeared! LOL! We had a taco dinner which was soooooo good!

Today is terrible outside! My dad and I were going to go to a funeral and we probably should have gone but with it so nasty out we didn't want dad to be be out in this let alone drive! I'm sure the two daughters understood. As far as the weather goes, it sounds lik we are guaranteed a White Christmas as there is a lot of snow and cold in the forecast. I haven't been walking Autumn because of the nasty weather lately and I miss her. I'm going to try to get over to my brother's just to see her. He only lives on the opposite end of the sidewalk of me which is maybe a whole block by taking the sidewalk 2 or 3 blocks going the other way.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Bethlehem is underway

Not sure why the picture is so dark unless it's because it's still dark outside, but I scanned it so it shouldn't have made a difference. This is my progress after about 24 hours of stitching. I really am enjoying these pieces, but I think this is the last of these I'll do for a while. I had thought I might do 3 Kings this year but think I will wait until next year. Besides I don't have the material I want to do it on. I did Winter Silhouette and this piece on Oppascent material and want to use that for 3 kings too. I am using Lavender Potpori by Gentle Arts as the thread.

There was a big celebration in our town last night. I didn't go and am not much of football fall but 4 of our High School Teams won the State Championships a couple of weeks ago so the city held a big celebration for them last night. They said it had never happened anywhere before and might not again so the officials held a big party for them. Nice and exciting for the kids. By the news it was a huge turnout.

Today is going to be another messy day. We had a foot of snow fall on Sat. alone on top of what we already had and it snowed Sunday. Yesterday was so nice I got to walk my brother's dog, and she enjoyed it. She wouldn't go in the snow over her head so we just walked on the sidewalks as they were plowed and shoveled. Now today we could get up to another foot of snow by the time this storm ends tomorrow. South of us is suppose to get ice. I'll take the snow over the ice.

Tis the season for birthdays and anniversaries in our family. Between the 11th and 24th we have 9 birthdays and anniversaries. If our grandfather and an aunt were alive there would be 11. Plus if you count my second mom who since died, the day my first cat died, the day I got Whiskers, and the day I broke my ankle that would be 14events all in that short time. I can't believe Johnny will be two Thursday and that I will have Whiskers 16 years on the 17th. Time flies so fast. Sat. we are having a party for Johnny.

There are a number of Christmas parties to go to in the coming days too. So it's a busy time of year for everyone. This season seems to be busier then ever. Oh an update on my mom and brother. My mom is doing okay yesterday she got out of the house for the first time in a while. She still has a problem with falling easily. My brother we found out it was a severe sinus infection causing his problems and is doing better now.

Well until next time Happy Stitching!

Snow Ho Ho is Finished

I loved doing this piece. It was so much fun. I did this as a SAL with Dawn (Tea Time) but she left me in the dust. She finished her's last week. I'm not much for Santa's but this one caught my eye and I had to do it. He has a frosty secret! Since we have so much snow on the ground this was very timely!

Well- until next time Happy Stitching.

One more finish

Thankfulness is now finished. I should be finished with Snow Ho Ho tomorrow, that is if I get enough done on it today. Then I can start Bethlehem. I think I told you I decided to do it in lavender and do The Three Kings in dark blue. I don't know if the Theree Kings will be done this year or next. Depends on how Bethlehem goes.

We got hit with a snowstorm so now I'm thinking "White Christmas". We had about 5 inches fall overnight. So not too bad.

Yesterday my dad took mom to ER as her hip was giving her so much pain. She fell 2 or 3 weeks ago and broke her pelvis bone. At the time her hip wasn't hurting. Fortunately it turned out to be muscle spasms. We are so thankful her hip wasn't broken. She's been through so much through the years. We are also concearned about my brother as he falls down a lot and really his muscles seem to be weak. He had a MRI last week and hopefully will know the results today or tomorrow. I just hope it's not real serious, maybe some new medication. Last week they stayed at my parents house 3 nights as Tim was too weak to climb the steps. Sat. he did go home and made the steps alright but is staying up there. Not going down the steps unless he has too.

I can't believe this is Dec. already. We have something like 11 birthdays and anniversaries between Dec. 11 and 24! I'm not kidding! So it's a big month.

Well, until next time (hopefully tomorrow) Happy Stitching!

One last update

Hopefully I will have this done Monday or Tuesday!

How was everyone's Thanksgiving. I went to my brother and sister-in-law's with my parents. We had a delicious meal and enoyed my brother's family. I learned how to play Settlers and like that game. I love games that make you think. I actually won but my niece, Melissa guided me through it. I want to play the game again, it was fun. Especially winning the first time I played it!

Did anyone venture out to the stores yesterday? There was no way I was going to! I have most of my Christmas shopping done anyway. My niece did go out and got a few presents for Johnny and Ashton from my mom. My sister's is getting Addie's for her. Not sure when we are going to have our family Christmas. This year is going to be a little more difficult than usual to get work schedules together.

Hopefully Monday or Tuesday this piece and Thankfulness will be done. Then I can start on Bethlehem. Because I want to do the 3 Kings in dark blue I'll do Bethlehem in purple.

Well-until next time Happy Stitching!

More Progress on Snow Ho Ho

I stitched on this piece quite a bit this past week and have gotten quite a bit further. The beard is sort of monotonous because of the boring colors but it's going good. I love working on this piece.

I just got back from my parents house. Because mom falls so easy dad doesn't like to leave her alone too long. Before long I'll go and walk my brother's dog and see if he's doing any better. For some reason lately he is also falling down very easily and just is confused sometimes. He's having a MRI later on today to see what is going on. He is not a drinker so we know alcohol isn't the problem.

Anyone have plans for Thanksgiving. I'm going to my brother's house. Can't wait, I get to see baby Johnny. l Did I say baby? He's going to be 2 next month. Can you believe that! He's getting into all the mischief he can and keeps his mother on her toes!

I hope to finish off the Thanksfulness piece and post it tomorrow. It's been a while since I've had a finish!

Well...until next time....Happy Stitching!

A couple of updates

This past week I've stitched some on both Thankfulness and Snow Ho Ho. Thankfulness probably will be done early next week if not before. I have a busy weekend coming up so don't know how much stitching will be done on either piece.
I will admit the beard on Snow Ho Ho is driving me a little crazy but it's okay. It's such a cute piece.

Tonight the Conferace starts at church for the weekend. We've heard about it for 7 months now. Last week it looked like hardly anyone was coming but this week the registrations have picked up quite abit. I'm working at the registration table. We are hoping we don't get too much snow as people are coming in from all over. The worship leader is coming in from IL, and a missionary is coming in from TN.

We have received some snow but not as bad as south of us. More is coming in they say.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Update on Snow Ho Ho

For not having that much time to stitch I have made quite a bit of progress. It really is going very well for me and I love stitching it. Surprising as I'm not too into Santa's but this one caught my eye and I had wanted to do it for a long time. Dawn Have I come close to catching up to you yet? Dawn and I are doing this as a SAL.

My sister was in town for a couple of days. We did some shopping, of course, but we mostly played Mexican Dominoes and Push Rummy with mom, and talked. Mom and I lost real bad twice and each one one game. Kay won one game.

Tomorrow is our annual Harvest dinner at church. The food is always great. I will come home stuffed as usual and probably eat way to much. That time of the year where we have lots of get togethers. I don't know about you but I have something to go to every Sat. in December.

Next weekend is the first annual Equipping conferance at our church. I do hope we have a descent turn out for it. The one in Grand Rapids we go to in March is huge, this one will be very small compared to that. But I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to be working at the reception desk.

It is the realities of November now. Our weather is quite dreary and quite cold! Snow is in the forecast. Brrrrrrr......
Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Another new start

I started Snow Ho Ho the other day. I have some more frogging to do but it is coming along. I haven't had a whole lot of time to stitch on it I had hoped to stitch more on it today, and I will stitch some. I sort of came down with the flu and today is not one of my better days. I get up for a little while then lay back down. I feel like someone zapped me of all my energy and my stomach is upset. But I think the worse is over.

I am doing this piece as a SAL with Dawn (Tea Time). She is giving me a week's head start since she worked on hers a week earlier. The Caretaker has been laid down until Jan. Thankfulness is still being worked on a little at a time.

It looks like our nice 60 and 70 degre weather has left us for awhile. We've had some snow and it's suppose to stay cold through next week. Oh well....It is Nov. I just hope the weekend of 21 and 22 are descent. We are having a conferance at our church and after so many months of planning we are hoping for a good turn out.

I got tagged by Meari (Meari's Musings) to say 6 things about myself. So here they are:

1. I love to Cross Stitch
2. I love animals, but Cats are my favorites
3. I do not like Steak and I do not like Ice Cream
4. I am afraid to ride on elevators.
5. I hate to read. But I am currently reading through the Bible. This is my second time. Only this time I'm going slower and taking notes and journaling it.
6. I am very active in our church.

Now as far as tagging 5 other people, I have to think on that one as several of you have been tagged.

Well, I'm going to go lay back down. I'll post more in a few days when I feel better. Until next time.....Happy Stitching.

Update on Thankfulness

Well it is moving along. I can't wait to finish it. This one isn't going as well as Winter Silhouette went but it's still fun to stitch.

Our Indian Summer has left us now. It is back to realities of November. Yesterday was 70's today it might hit 50's. They are even using the S word for the weekend.

Where has this year gone? Already it's November. I did get some Christmas Shopping done on Wed. with my sister-in-law, Beth. Our parents and the three little ones (Ashton, Johnny and Addie) are all taken care of. Even got Johnny's birthday present.

We had Trunk or Treat last Friday. We are a fairly small church so only had about 12 cars but everyone seemed to enjoy it. I was inside doing the apple cider and donuts. It was interesting hearing some of the older kids say "We had Awanna or Adventure Club down here." Not a whole lot of people came inside but since I was basically alone there was enough. My niece, Tabbi brought Ashton and Kaylee, and Mackenzie down. Plus Ashton's dad's family all came down. I felt bad as it was a busy time for me so I didn't get to talk with them much.

Now it's time to think about Thanksgiving which our plans are made already. We're going to my brother, Kevin's house.

As far as The Caretaker goes, I did a little on it. But I may be laying it down now until Jan. Maybe I'll pick it up a little next week. I'm anxious to get some Christmas pieces going. There are 4 I would like to do this year. Usually I only do one or two.

Progress on Thankfulness

I've made some progress on Thankfulness. I'm working on it today, tomorrow and Wed. I had to wash The Caretaker today as I got jelly on it plus it was getting dirty so thought now would be a good time to wash it. I'd like to finish the page I'm working on then I'll lay it down until Jan. and do some Christmas stuff like Bethlehem and Snow Ho Ho. I'm doing Snow Ho Ho as a SAL with Dawn (Tea Time) I said I'd start mine the middle of November.

Today we took Autumn to the Vet to get her yearly shots and some flea treatment. She was out in the country last week and got fleas from another dog come to turn out the Vet said she was allergic to fleas so she's taking Benadryl now. She's not going back to the country for a little whle. (That's where Wendy lives and Tim often takes her when he goes to Wendy's to visit.)

Sat. I went to a craft fair with some friends from church. I found a pink mini blanket with a lamb for it I got either for Addie or for the baby to come in Feb., a book for Ashton, and a candle made out of stones from Lake Superior for our SS class exchange gift at Christmas. I was happy with it. While there I some friends from the church I had gone to when I lived in Grand Rapids had a booth, so I got to talk to them a little bit. I hadn't seen them in 15 years so it was good to see them again. I bought the candle from them. We were going to go to another craft fair in Grand Haven next month. The other 2 can go, I already know I can't go. I'm going to another Christmas party that day. Oh yes, getting to that time of year!

Wed. my sister-in-law and I are going Christmas shopping. I'll pick up a few more gifts then.

I am so glad that tomorrow is voting day finally. I am so sick of all the TV adds. I already voted by absentee anyway.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Happy Halloween!

Isn't this kitty scary? LOL! I didn't do a Halloween piece this year, I chose to to major on The Caretaker, so went back to a piece I did a few years ago. This piece has since been given away.

Our apartment complex doesn't allow Trick or Treating so I'm going over to our church where we are having Trunk or Treat. I talked Tim and Wendy into doing it too. They'll hand out our candy, I'll be inside the church serving Apple Cider and Donuts to those who come inside. We did Trunk or Treat last year for the first time and the neighbors loved it. Several called or stopped by to ask if we were doing it again this year. I hope the members show up. Our people usually come through but a lot of them have Trick or Treaters go to their homes so they have to be there too. We'll see. I know we'll have at least 10 cars. We really aren't that big of a church. Several people donated candy and apple cider and donuts so we are all set there.

I haven't made much progress on The Caretaker or Thankfulness so I'll wait a couple of days to post updates on those.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching.

A New Start and Progress on The Caretaker

I started a new piece yesterday. It's Thankfulness by Diane Arthur of Imaginating. I am using Gentle Arts Burnt Orange Floss for it. I really like doing these pieces.

Things have slowed down on The Caretaker mostly because the page has an awful lot of confetti stitching on it. Much more than any previous page. As you can see I am not far from done on that page but believe me it will be next week before it's done. I'll probably have half of page 13 done by time this page is done. I'm anxious to get to page 13 as it will get much more of the elk on it. This is progress after 400 hours of stitching on it.

I am happy to report Whiskers is doing very well now. He got the last of his meds last night. Believe me today I gave him his treat and he woofed it down it probably tasted much better to him! LOL! He's been spending a lot of time on my lap being petted and I love that time with him. I think he wants to know he is more important than my stitching and he is.

We've had a cool and windy few days. We've had snow, and we've had thunderstorms! Think it took care of a lot of the trees! Oh well, they were getting so pretty. I just love the fall season.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Stealing Oats is Finished!

Boy! Am I glad to have this done. In the end it annoyed me as I made so many stupid mistakes due to lack of concentration and had to improvise quite a bit. Plus I couldn't use the beads that came in the charm pack as my needles were not small enough so I just did french knots. It is a cute piece though and maybe a few years from now I'll redo it.

Now it's back to The Caretaker. I would like to get the page I'm on and the page with more of the elk finished before laying it down for a while. We'll see. The page I'm on has an awful lot of confetti stitching which really slows it down a whole lot.

I had planned to do Harvest Blessings and Harvest and a Halloween piece in Oct. and Nov. I don't know what I did with those three patterns. They are here somewhere! I'll probably find them in Dec. Too late then. So I got out Yesteryear to do when I need a break from the Caretaker next time.

Well, until nex time-Happy Stitching!

Stealing the Oats

I'm taking a break from The Caretaker to finish this piece and maybe do a small Halloween piece (if I find a cute small one). I should be done with this piece tomorrow morning sometime.
I did make a mistake though. I made the horse longer than what he should have been. I didn't see on the directions tht 2 stitches were repeated on the second page. Oh well....He still looks fine to me. I'm not sure what I'm doing with him yet anyway. You can see the kitten is just coming in. This piece is so cute.
Last Sunday night I got the shock of my life. I went to my mailbox at church and found an enveloped with my name marked "Food Pantry." It had a really nice note and I expected to find maybe $20 but I saw the first $100 bill and I was shocked and went to my dad and said "Dad they gave me $100 then I looked further there was several $100! Needless to say that money got turned over and now is in the bank for the Food Pantry. Plus so much food came in. I think we are going to go with Love Inc. now and let them send a couple of people a month to start and go from there. (Oh I need to call them don't I?)
An update on Whiskers here, He is doing fine. Monday was a rough day in that I couldn't get him to eat to take his med in the morning. Finally late that afternoon he ate and he's been good about taking his med ever since. I finally just said if he misses a pill I won't worry about it as he is doing well. He is almost to the end of his medication now.
Yesterday I went on a color tour with a group from church. There was quite a bit of color in spots but not quite to the peak yet. It still was a pretty trip. Then we ate a restaurant up in Grant. We went through a part of Hesperia which brought back a lot of memories for a couple of us. Mary grew up there and my grandparents lived there. We went close to the big hill they lived at the top of. Then went through some other small towns before reaching Grant. Nothing much changes up there which was nice.
Now we're all getting ready for Halloween. Trick or Treating isn't allowed in our Apt. Complex but our church is having Trunk or Treat so I'm going to be doing that only inside the church serving donuts and Apple Cider to any Trick or Treater that comes in. Trunk or Treat is where cars are lined up in the church parking lot and treats are handed out as the kids go to each car. We did it last year and the neighborhood loved it. The church had several people call and ask if we were doing it again. They finally had me put it on the sign.
Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Quick update on Whiskers

Last night, my cat, Whiskers who is now 16, got sick twice during the night. Then when we got up this morning he just wasn't himself. He went over to his water and meowed and meowed and meowed like he was really hurting, wanted to drink but couldn't. Finally he did drink but got sick right afterwards. So I called my brother and asked him to take us to the Vet. I was in tears so afraid I'd have to put him down. Because he was so upset at the Vet and he attacked me really good the Vet felt she better put him under to run blood tests on him. It turned out he has a Bladder Infection, just the beginning of one. So I have to give him pills the next 10 days twice a day. I just hope he takes them. I hope he doesn't get more in the future. I am not going to my sister's now. I would really be upset if I went and he got worse and to take him with me would be a problem. My sister isn't happy about that but she'll get over it. Here's a picture of my little sweetheart. It's been over a year since I posted one of him.

Sunday, Oct. 19. I am happy to say Whiskers is doing much, much better. I finally walked up to the store yesterday and got his very favorite treats, (Fancy Feast) and gave him a little, he devoured it. Later ate some of his regular food. Last night I put his pill in some more treats and he ate it. Sat. he even jumped up on my bed a little rather than lay in the corner like he was. He even woke me up at 6:30 am this moning first time in days he's done that, and he asked for some treats (he hadn't done that in a few days), watched me crush the pill and put it in his food, he still ate it. I'm a very Happy Camper! Thank you for your thoughts, well wishes, and prayers for him. He's going to be fine.

Some more Progress

Progress is very slow at this point as there is so much confetti stitching on this particular page, it really slows me down. You can tell by the color shades there is an awful lot. I still enjoy this piece though.

This coming up week I probably won't get much any progress on this piece. I'll be out of town 3 days. Sat. we have a Bridal Shower to go to for my nephew's fianee on the other side of the state. Sat, so my mom, brother, and his fiancee and their dog Autumn, will all be going to my sister's. Her daughter, Heather, her husband, Brian, and their 5 month old baby, Addie will all be there. Sat. night will be interesting, Heather, Brian, and Addie, their dog Trisket, mom, Tim, Wendy, Me, and Autumn. Plus my sister has a dog. Their son Bryan, will probaly spend the weekend at his fiancee's parents house. (Bryan and Christy live in Chicago.) Let's see 3 dogs, 2 of them are large breed and Autumn is small. Both Autumn and Trisket get along with Maverick and both love that huge yard. We'll see what happens. Trisket and Autumn have never seen each other. I think Autumn will be more interested in Addie though. She loves the baby but we guard Addie when Autumn is around her.
Sunday I'm not sure what we are doing, and Monday I know we are going shopping at a huge outdoor Outlet Center. We have our favorite stores to go in. So I'm grabbing my credit card that's for sure!

Thursday we are going on a color tour. The leaves are starting to turn very nicely here now. Much better color this year the last. So I think the tour will be beautiful. I think we are heading a little to the North. It's a mystery tour but we think we know where we are having lunch. Tim and Wendy went there one night and saw the people hosting the tour there too. They had been told to check out the restaurant, then one Sunday in church Pastor Al said "those of you who know where we are going just keep it under your hats." So that was a dead giveaway.

I am going to take Stealing Oats with me to my sister's and work on it in the car for sure. It will be my shut up piece or I'm of the wall. So I'll show a progress picture of that next week some time.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

The Caretaker

Thank you for all your comments to Winter Silhouette!

Now I'm back to stitching my forever project, The Caretaker. I figure it'll be finished sometime between 2010 and 2020! I finished my 5th page on it so that conts as 1 more piece towards the 25 challenge, my 6th page is almost done so that will count as the 34d. I read somewhere where someone was counting each page of a huge project as a project toward their goal, and I thought good idea. Especially since there is more on 1 page then there is to a lot of projects.

I am real happy with this piece and do enjoy working on it. I can't wait to get more of the elk done and really start having it look like it's coming together. I may start that page next.

Oh I almost forgot. I gave 3pieces to a friend of mine to finish off. Two were made into pillows and the 3rd (Lizzie Kate Flip It's) was made into a Bell Pull. I already gave the Bell Pull to a friend going through radiation treatments for cancer. I liked how the two turned off she has done, the 3 rd one I'll get Sunday. The pillow really turned out nice. I think I will have the two pillows as an exchange piece. I've been shy about joining exchanges because I'm no good in finishing things. Mary said she'd finish things off for me when I wanted. I'll try not to over work her.

Well, until next time happy stitching!

Winter Silhouette is Finished

I put the last stitches in it about an hour ago. I love how it turned out and can't wait to do Harvest and Bethlehem. But I will work on Stealing Oats next and finish that off then go back to The Caretaker. The picture doesn't do the piece justice.

Thanks for all your suggestions on the TV. The TV is working now. My dad called Comcast and they walked him through what to do. We figure I used the wrong remote the other day and that's what screwed everything up.

Well-until next time Happy Stitching!

I Received My Thread

I got the Valdani Thread in mail Friday afternoon and immediately picked Winter Silhouette back up. I only have to finish the house I'm doing, do one more house and a couple of trees and another star and it will be finished. Oh yea the land to those houses and trees too. I hope to be done with the piece on Tuesday. We'll see.
I so enjoy doing this piece. I plan to do Autumn Harvest in Burnt Ornge (Gentle Arts) and Bethlehem in the near future. I'll do Autumn Harvest real soon. All are by Diane Arthur. I love doing these pieces. She also has 3 Kings and Snowmen which i I'll get those two next year and do them.

Thank you to everyone who reads my blog and have made comments to it. I really appreciate them. I love going to all the different blogs (obviously look at how long my blog roll is!)LOL, and seeing the different pieces everyone is doing.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I could have done to my parents TV? I went to change the channel (they were gone I was there to keep the dog company) and got static. When my parents got home I told them what happened and they tried everything. They just got static and also the TV seems to be froze on one channel, I must have locked it somehow. They didn't figure it out yesterday and today my brother is there. So far I haven't heard that he was able to fix it either. I absolutely hate remotes and I am never touching a remote again!

Well, until next time. Happy Stitching

A New Start

Here is the start of Stealing Oats. I think it is so cute. I love the Britter animals and they are very easy to do. The cat isn't in the picture yet but will be eventually. Now I have the mane done the horse is going quicker. It took forever to do the mane. I'm still working on The Caretaker, but sometimes need a break from it.

I finally heard the Valdani Thread arrived to 123 stitch and they have shipped it to me with the rest of the thread I ordered. I can't wait to get it and get back to Winter Silhouette. I'll have 3 in my rotation. I'm typically a one at a time stitcher. I read on someone's blog on the large pieces like the ones by HAED and Mystic Stitch, etc they count each page as a project so I think I'll do that too. Hey it'll get me to 25 faster.

Last night Adventure Club started at our church. We didn't have very many kids show up, I think the lowest start ever. Once it progresses we get more kids. My little great nephew, Ashton, and 2 of his cousins were there. Ashton was so cute. I came down the stairs just as he was registering and said "Hi Ashton" he looked surprised, then covered his mouth and started giggling. He and his little cousin Mc Kenzie did great. I wish I could say the same for Kaily who is 8. She did fine until she saw her Grandma, then she was whining and crying the rest of the night. She's in my class and honestly did fine, Then when it was tme for games she grabbed my hand and was crying. Granted she is very shy and is definitely her grandma's girl. So Wendy just took her from there. (Wendy is my brother's fiancee). We really like her a lot.

Tomorrow I'll be spending the day with my mom unless it rains. Dad is going golfing. They are taking care of my brother's dog as Tim and Wendy are going up north for the weekend. (Crummy weekend to go up to the cottage but they are). It's just been cold here and really looks like it may rain. Since mom is so unsteady on her feet we'd feel better if I went there to walk the dog etc. I'll do my washing while I'm there, this time I can do it for free won't need quarters there!. I'll take this piece since it is an easy piece to do. But I'm sure we'll work a puzzle. I love doing puzzles. It's just I can't do them here Whiskers won't let me. Neither did my previous cat. Speaking of Whiskers, he is going t be 16 10 days from now! I can't believe it.

Well, I better go do my dishes, until next time Happy Stitching!

Remember The Caretaker?

While waiting for the Valdini Thread to arrive I have picked The Caretaker back up. (Makes my brother happy anyway). Seriously I am enjoying working on the piece. I have almost 5 pages completely done. I really can't wait to get more of the elk in but it's going to be quite awhile yet before I get him done.

I just go back from walking my brother's dog. I try to walk her almost every day, (although it's been a few days). She made up for it though. We walked for over an hour so that was good. The last time I walked her one of the neighbor ladies had her come in and gave her some chicken to eat. So today we went by her apartment and what Autumn stops on the side and starts whining. I finally go up to the door thinking something was wrong and Autumn was sensing it. No, she wanted more chicken but she didn't get it I wouldn't let her. She did get to see the lady though. The lady is 90 years old and lives alone in a town house. She doesn't show her age. She also does Cross Stitch though not as much as she use to. I hope I'm stitching at 90!

I also have Stealing Oats on the side that I am stitching. It's barely started, so maybe later in the week I'll show that.

Well until next time, Happy Stitching!

Decisions, Decisions

Here is the Bethlehem Pattern. I need help. Which of the three threads shown would look best with with? I'm leaning towards the Midnight Blue (darker of the three). But I think the Cornflower and the Lavender Potpori would be pretty too. It will be done on Oppascent material just like Winter Silhouette. Thanks for your opinions.

Out of Thread

I ran out of thread to finish this. I got quite aways so end of next week I'll get the thread (hopefully it'll come then), and I can finish it off. I am not happy about running out of thread, but at least it is coming. Now I'll pick up The Caretaker back up. See how far I can get on that.

This Thursday I am going up to Center Lake for a 1 day retreat. I can't wait. I grew up going to Center Lake Bible Camp every year and loved it. I've been up there off and on as an adult, but it's been about 4 or 5 years now.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

More Progress

Thank you so much for all your comments to this piece so far. I am overwhelmed and really appreciate them. I know the picture is a little dark I should have waited a few hours to take the picture I think. I do think you might see the glisten of the material better though. I am almost half done. I have gone through over one skein of the floss so I did order some the other day. It won't be here for a couple of weeks so I'll have to lay it down next week when I run out of this floss. I'm just happy to have found the floss without having to pay $12.00 like the original place was going to charge me.

Some of us at ESC (Every Stitch Counts) are going to do Bethlehem which is a companion piece, as a SAL at Christmas Time. So I need to order the material and floss for that. This piece makes me want to use Specialty floss a lot of love the shades. I'm trying to decide if I want to do Bethlehem in lavender which I love or the blue which I also love. So I think I'll order more threads. I also found another piece I love that is a harvest piece I want to get and do up. That one I'll do in Burnt Orange Shades. I'm hoping to find the Opascent Material to do Bethlehem on. I think it would be so pretty.

Okay-Confession time! Forget the 25 challenge! I just ordered several patterns from 123 stitch. Some are for gifts but not all of them. I discovered I didn't have Bethlehem like I thought. But could I stop at Bethlehem, the material and the
Gentle Arts Thread for that. Of course NOT! I ordered about 5 or 6 other patterns and about 20 Skeins of Gentle Arts Thread! Well I'm not buying anything else for the rest of the year! And have to start all over with the 25 challenge, at least I wasn't very far!

Well so much on my future stitching. Actually when this is done I'm going back to the piece I started last year for my brother. I'm anxious to get more done on that.

Winter Silhoutte

Wow! Three days in a row I'm posting. But I'm so excited about this piece I wanted to post a picture of the progress. I'm real happy with the progress on it tjos this is after stitching only 8 hours. I just love it! I just hope I have enough floss. Grrr...Not going there. Well my sister is on her way to town and I'm going to my parents in about an hour so until next time Happy Stitching!

My new project and a question

I have just started Winter Silhouette by Imaginating. I am using Specialty thread. My question is do I work the top row all the way across first then 2nd row so on so forth or can I do each individual picture? I have started the church. I love this piece. I saw it in purple at the LNS and it was beautiful but they didn't have the purple thread so went with blue. I am doing it on white opescent material, (14 count). It'll be beautfiul when done! Until next time Happy Stitching!

Double Flip It's is finished

I just finished this a little over an hour ago. I had planned for it to go to a friend going through radiation treatments. Than I thought she might like another piece better. I'll let one of her best friends decide between the two pieces tomorrow. This will otherwise go as an exchange gift at Christmas. Now to kit up my next project. I had planned to do Piglet for Johhnny, and Grrrrrr, I can't find the book! I had it a few days ago. It'll show up. So am doing a Bashful bunny piece for a quilt.

Oh, Because I fell off the wagon I have to start over this time going for only 25 not 50. This piece is counting as 6 towards it because it actually would be 12 if done individually, since the borders are left off I am making it 6 so 6 pieces towards 25. Off to a great start!

I've been thinking and praying for the people in the path of of Hurricane Ike. It's a good thing it wasn't a 3 or 4, 2seems to have done enough destruction. I know there are several of you out there, here's hoping you are all safe and don't have too much destruction in your homes.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

One-in-a-half words to go

It's getting there. It should be done by Monday if not Sat. I really am enjoying this piece. Some words took longer than others but other than that it's really a fun stitch.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how a church can have a Missionary Memorial? What did you do for it? I finally am getting a memorial set up for the very first missionary our church sent out. Catch is I'm going to have to include the other missionaries that we sent that died too, so far that's 3 possibly 4 then another one has end stage cancer so she'll be included when she dies. I had really wanted a missionary corner to promote missions but that fell through. A compromise is a missionary hutch and still get to feature a missionary every couple of months. I have contacted the families of the 3 missionaries and they are all excited about something being done. We'll do something after the first of the year right now we have 3 other major things we are working on coming up in Oct. and Nov. Just curious as to what if other churches did. I finally took it upon myself to upgrade our map as we had one missionary listed as being in Peru who for the last year or transferred to Mexico as the work he set out to do in Peru ended. Took down a retired missionary and have to get pictures of two other families to put up.

Yesterday there was a fire at the elementary school my little great nephew, Ashton, goes to. Can you believe a little second grader started the fire. Not much is being said on the news about it. My guess is he wanted to see what would happen if he started a fire with the bathroom tissue and didn't fully understand what he was doing. What a young child is doing with a match or lighter I don't know. Fortunately no one was injured, they sent the children all home and they are off until Monday so they can clean up the mess and get some of the smoke smell out. Ashton is in Kindergarten so was not in the area of the fire.

Well, guess I'll go back to stitching. Until next time Happy Stitching!

I Fell off the Wagon (again)!

Well........I went to a LNS the other day. I rarely get to one as we don't have any in our city but this one was only about a half hour away. And I bought 3 different patterns. I have taken a picture of the culprits and the Lizzie Kate pieces. This doesn't include all the floss or material I bought. I spent money thanks to my Stimulous check I finally received. The Lizzie Kate's I am doing as a gift. But I'm thinking Winter Silhouette, Believe, and Stealing Oats will be mine and I want to do one of them so bad! I'll go back to square one but will only go for 25 instead of 50. Also the Lizzie Kate piece will count as 3 projects toward it.

I am also showing a picture of my progress on the Double Flip It's. I have 6 done, y6 more to go.

Until next time.....Happy Stitching!

Four Words Down, Eight to Go

Here are two more words to the Double Flip It Series. I didn't have much time to work on it over the weekend but did make progress. I really am enjoying this piece.

How was everyone's weekend? Sat. and Sun. were so busy for me they flew. So yesterday I just relaxed and stitched. Sat. my brother and sister-in-law arrived in from MO. Later that afternoon we all went to a Mexican Restaurant that was so good and it was so nice in there. We all enjoyed it. Johnny who is now 20 months, and an energetic bundle of fun and joy stole the show. He talks pretty good for being so young and does put small words together. If you remember, my mom lost part of her leg a few months ago, and now has a prosthesis. Johnny is so fascinated by that, he made sure everyone knew about it, by saying "See her leg? Where is it?" Then the owner of the restaurant came up and talked to us and in end thanked us for coming and Johnny turns around and says to him "Thank You" It was so cute. Not long after that, he came back with a big stuffed fish for Johnny.

Sunday afternoon more family members were able to join us at our niece Melissa's house. Johnny made sure he greeted everyone and hammed it up again. Another niece and her husband had their baby, Addie there. Addie is 4 months old now. Johnny loved her but he has this thing about biting. Fortunately he got caught and stopped as he just was about to bite her. He's getting better but still....He gave Addie his pillow to lay on and tried to share some of his toys with her. So cute. Ashton who is 5 and started school today was running around outside with his Uncle Andrew. We hardly saw Ashton. He did ask his mother for a baby brother or sister as he loves babies. He was so gentle with Addie holding her very carefully. I may be prejudiced but even Kenn and Denise said it, for their young ages, Ashton, Johnny, and Addie are all very smart. Ashton is in Advanced Kindergarten as he was too advanced for regular kindergarten so he goes to school all day 5 days a week. That sounds like a lot to me. Well enough of my boasting about our 3 little ones.
It was such a fun weekend, busy, and altogether too short.

Well, I need to run a couple of errands and then go back to stitching. Until next time Happy Stitching!

Put me in the Growing Number

That is doing these Lizzie Kate's Double Flip It's. I've been eyeing them for quite some time. Then my sister sent me money for my birthday and part of it went for these 6 patterns. I am doing this piece for a friend who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. They got it all in the surgery but she still has to have 25 radiation treatments. Another friend is going to sew it into a bell pull or wall hanging.

Anyone have plans for this long weekend? My brother and sister-in-law are coming in from MO. They'll be here early tomorrow afternoon, so we'll be having family get together's to see them

It's suppose to be a nice weekend. Unfortunately Tuesday the first day of school the kids will be going in 90 degree weather. So unfair for them I don't even think we had 90 all summer!

Well, I want to get back to stitching on this piece. Oh I'm counting this as 4pieces in one so with this piece I should be at the halfway point of the 50 challenge.

What State is It?

Thank you for the comments to my AOY piece it was so much fun to do.

I thought I would turn this into a guessing game to see if you know what state it is by the border. You may have to click on the picture to get a better view. I just started the first of four states by Lavender and Lace for my niece. One state Scott was raised in, another Michelle was raised in the other two they lived in together so far. This one is the one that looked least appealing so thought I would do it first. I don't know why when I do the middle there is a beer and mug in it instead of mountains as it is a beautiful state with the mountains. I'm not creative enough to replace it I pretty much go straight by the pattern.

My brother is coming in from MO this weekend. It'll be the first time in about 5 years since he was up here so we are looking forward to their visit.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Me and My Dog is finished

I loved doing this piece and probably will do more AOY pieces. It was so much funto do. This piece will go to an AOY quilt we are doing at Cross Stitching for Charity. I can't wait to see pictures of that quilt. It will be so cute!

Yesterday was a noisy and busy day. My sister brought Addie in and also another Great Nephew, and a Nephew were there, plus my brother, and Wendy and my brother's dog. Ashton is a cute, loveable hyperactive noisy kid. Little Addie had to see all the action so got very little sleep but she was a good baby. Ashton kept wanting to hold her, Autumn (the dog) kept wanting to lick her.

For today being an Ozone action day it wasn't too bad out there. I mostly stayed inside today. Did some running around. Tomorrow get to basically stay home all day. First day in over a week! I have my next project all kitted up and looks like I will have to make a trip to Jo Anne's. Irritating all that floss I have and I still don't have 2 numbers! Oh well.....

Well until next time Happy Stitching. Thank you for reading my blog. I have enjoyed reading the comments too. I love reading everyone else's blogs. There are so many great blogs out there!

Who is Reading my Blog?

I copied this from Cathy at Pumpkin Patch. I also later saw it on a few other blogs so I thought I would try it.

I know a lot of people are reading my blog but not that many leave comments. Some just are shy and people do get busy. If you are willing I would love to hear your comment.
Here are the rules:

1) As a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! And if we've never met, leave me a comment about your favourite post that I wrote and why it was your favourite.

2) Next, re-post these instructions on your Blog (if you have one) and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your Blog and leave one about you

Some Progress on Me and My Dog

I haven't had that much time to stitch on this this past week, but when I stitched I really did get a lot done. This piece is moving along fairly easy and quick. It's easier than I expected it to be. (Knock on wood). I think it is such a cute piece. I'm anxious to see a picture of that quilt, it's going to be cute.

I've watched quite a bit of the Olympics this past week, especially the swimming, diving and gymnastic events. I probably won't watch as much next week. I think the US is doing well.

Today is my birthday so I'll be in and out today. It doesn't seem like I'm getting so old, I really don't feel my age. Tonight I get a free dinner at a restaurant and then I have Board Meetings at church. I told them they owed me a cake for that one! Usually they are first Thurs. of the month but because of the Unity Festival it's tonight. Oh well, it doesn't bother me I'm just giving them a hard time!

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

An AOY Start

Thank you to everyone that has read my blog and to those who have left comments. Thank you so much they have meant a lot to me. It really surprises me how many have read my blog and how many have left comments. I'm humbled by it. I love to read other blogs and leave comments and I think oh their's is so much better than mine.
There are some great blogs out there. And I love seeing everyone's works. I tend to read blogs that show their work more then just written blogs. I also like seeing pictures of the families. I don't show many as my family has requested I don't. Addison's parents in particular would have words with me if I got caught showing pictures of her online. They don't trust the internet and I respect that. Johnny's parents are okay with an occassional picture of him.

I started this earlier this week and this is progress after 18 hours of stitching. So far it's an enjoyable stitch and going quite well. It's Me and My Dog by Faye Whitaker (All Our Yesterdays). They are so cute. I got this book and 3 others for a total of $12.99 through Crafters Club. I found pieces to do for Love Quilts in all 4 books so I don't have to start over on the challenge.

Tonight the Olympics begins! I can't wait. I know the ceremonies are just starting now in China but we won't get them until tonight. I'll be watching them. I can't wait for the swimming and diving and gymnastic events.

This weekend is Unity Festival. I usually stay away from it as it's quite loud but a lot of people enjoy it. It's a Festival of all Contemporary Christian Music. Some of the bands are too jazzy for me though. It's always the 2nd weekend of Aug. I guess.

It's beem a beautiful few days around here an occasional storm or two but not bad. Yesterday water spout were discovered over the Lake. Water spouts look like tornadoes and in the immediate area do some damage but fortunately no boaters, or swimmers were injured and no boats or other propery was damaged yesterday.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Stitching Mends the Soul is finished

Not only does it mend the soul but it is relaxing to. I love taking a blank piece of material and seeing a picture come to life on it. I finished this a little over an hour ago and washed and ironed it. It really was fun to do but took longer than I expected. I have started the AOY piece but will get that going tomorrow.

Today wasn't one of my better days. My stomach was really acting up and all I wanted to do is sleep. I felt really lightheaded at times. So I just stayed in all day. Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug, as tomorrow is a busy day.

Monday my niece, Heather, came with her baby Addison. Addison is 3 months old now and is growing. She coos a lot and she can even turn from her back to her stomach which she is ahead of schedule on that. She's working on turning back to her back but hasn't quite gottn there....give her a couple of weeks.

Oh I got another Brillant Award from Rachael. Thank you Rachel (Come Stitch With Me). I wasn't sure what to do since I got it a couple of weeks ago, but thought I would mention it and I will pass it on to 7 people. (After reading a couple of posts I'm passing it on, that had good points I will pass it on. So the 7 I am passing it on to are:
Julianne
Leslie (Leslie's Stitching Haven)
The Fireside Cat
Michelle (Arthemise
Chloe (Chiloescorner
Lisha (Crafty Girl Lisha)
Margie
I don't think these 7 have received the award yet and I do enjoy their blogs. I just don't know how to do the link.

Only two days left for the Olympics. I can't wait!
Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Wind Surfer is Finished

I don't know why but this was the most annoying piece for me. I think it's because of the bright colors, it's not why I would typically pick. But I love watching the wind surfers on Lake Michigan, especially when the waves are just right. They can do so many amazing stunts on these surfboards with sails. And they are so graceful! We could watch them by the hour!

Yesterday was a sad day as it was the funeral of a long time friend of the family. His in-laws and I were really close at one time. Now because we don't live near each other and many in the family have died we lost contact with some. One of them Jan, who was one of my best friends came in for his funeral, I hadn't seen her in 30 years. So we exchanged addresses and e mail and say we will get back in touch. We'll see. I confess I am not the best at answering e mails let alone snail mails.

I can't believe that July is almost over! Where did the time go! In a couple of weeks the Olympics will be going on. I'm looking forward to seeing the Gymnastics, Swimming and Diving Events and some Track and Field events.

Does anyone watch Design Star? Who do you think will win? Both Matt and Jen have been pretty consistent so I really don't care which one will win. I was rooting for Trisha but she came in 3rd. I did like Jen's design better than Matt's last week.

Well, enough chatting. Until next time Happy Stitching!

WOW Another Award

I received another award. I'm overwhelmed. Thanks Dani (Navy Stitching) I really appreciate it. For so long I wondered how many people were reading my blog then got excited after I got the map and saw. Now to get two different awards I'm honored. Because I want to keep the award going I will nominate 5 people. I'm not sure how to do the links but you will find them in my Blog Roll. It was hard to just come up with 5 when so many deserve it
Here are the rules of the award

1. The winner may put the logo on her blog.
2. Put a link to the person you got the award from.
3. Nominate 5 blogs.
4. Put links to the blogs.
5. Leave a message for your nominees.

My 5 people are
Mary Ann (Just Stitching)
Kitty (Kitty Stitches)
Kim (These are Days Well Rememberd)
Carolyn (Taking One Stitch at a Time)
Storm at Sea Stitching

Now to go notify these people.

I haven't done much stitching the last couple of days. In fact I lost the Waxing Moon piece. I think I left it at church yesterday when I went to work in the Food Pantry. I have to go back to do the sign today so I'll look. If it's not there, I can redo it at a future date as it is an easy pattern, I do have the pattern here. I really want my hoop. It was 25 years old and my favorite one. Oh well....

Until next time Happy Stitching!

I have started yet another piece. I have this problem nothing is really holding my interest so I'm turning into a Serial Starter!

Today I went to the Dentist and had a tooth pulled. We had hoped to save it but it wasn't possible. I like this dentist so much better than who I was going to. Granted he's more expensive but worth it. I don't like going to the Dentist and it's hard for me to find one I like. I didn't find one in GR I really liked until towards the end, then I moved. Now it's taken 11 years to find one I really like! I talked my parents into going to him to. My dad likes him. I joke it's because he's a Finlander and you don't find too many of us Finlanders around here! (Two of those I gave the award to are in Finland) but I really do like their blogs and they do blog in English and Finnish so I like that. Not that I can read Finnish!

I cannot believe it's getting into the end of July. Next week it will be August already. Where does the time go?

Well....until next time Happy Stitching!
