Patriotic Ribbon and Heart

Well.....I started another piece. I'm not forgetting the clown piece, it's 2/3 way done. But, this piece is also due May 1 and I couldn't see being late for two pieces. This is my progress after 12 hours of stitching on it. It's gong quite well and I love stitching on it.

It is such a beautiful day outside. I think our cold weather is gone for the season. It's 40's today but might reach 50 and over the weekend 70's! Wow! Hopefully spring is here to stay. I love spring season but I don't like my allergies acting up! Oh well....can't have everything!

Well, I need to run up to the store to get some ice cream topping for tonight. It's the last two weeks of Adventure Club for the season so tonight the kids get ice cream and next week is the Carnival which the love! Until next time Happy Stitching!

Back to the Clown

This is progress after 100 hours of stitching on the Clown Face. It's coming alive finally. It is a fun stitch and hopefully will be done by end of the month.

We are enjoying some nice spring like weather. It's suppose to get to mid 60's here. Then drop for a few days next week. It's still not bad though compared to a month ago 50 is great.

Well, there really isn't much to say since my last post so until next time Happy Stitching!

A Very Quick Finish

This was done in about 4 hours time and about 5 hours of pouting time! I started it at 6 am today. Was absolutely positive I had it centered right for once. Got it almost all done and discovered I used the wrong fold as the center. (The material and pattern had been sent to me as they wanted it all to be unified. I was so upset when I discovered what happened I did a lot of pouting after that as frogging was not an option nor could I redo it on different material. So I finished it off hoping they will be cutting the material down a little, they can cut at the top. I hope it will be okay. This is for a special quilt for Breanna that we are doing at CSA (a group within Love Quilts).

I just got back from walking Autumn. She gets so excited, she watches for me to come then when she sees me from her deck she gets all excited goes into the apartment and greets me at the door. After about 10 minutes she has calmed down enough to take her for her walk. It was a perfect day for a walk not too warm and not to cold.

Well, I'll go back to that clown piece tomorrow. Until next time Happy Stitching!

Chelsea's first Easter

I haad to grab this picture of Chelsea, I love it. The bunny is bigger than what she is. Actually Elaina said it was bigger then her and Josh put together. One huge bunny.

I need to get motivated to do some housework. Then I'll stitch on that clown that is taking me forever to do. Hopefully I'll make the May 1 due date but at this point I doubt it.

Until next time....Happy Stitching!

Big Bear Band is Finished

Happy Easter to everyone. I know it's a day early but I wanted to say it now since I was posting anyway. Hope you all enjoy the time with your families. I'm going to my parents house tomorrow. Which reminds me I better get the green bean caserole started.
I finished this not too long ago and it's hot off the iron now. It's such a cute piece but took forever for me to do and am happy to have it done. Now I'll work ong the clown piece for a couple of days before starting another project which will be a quick heart piece for love quilts.
Today is so beautiful outside. I took my brother's dog, Autumn out for her walk and she just enjoyed it so much. This is a perfect time of year for our walks not too hot and not too cold

Update on Big Bear Band

I picked this back up last week and probably will be done with it tomorrow or Friday for sure. It's a cute piece but been a hard one for me to get into I don't know why. But I will finish it off now.
I think Spring is finally coming to stay. I think winter had it's last Horrah for this year anyway. We lucked out of the snow storms and just got a little snow but it was cold. Now each day is suppose to warm up. I know this is short but not much is happening to write about right now. Untill next time....Happy Stitching!

Trip to MO

It's been over a week since I have blog. I just have been super busy. I haven't even stitched too much.
On Friday my parents, brother, & sister-in-law and I went to MO to see another brother and sister-in-law and their family. It was a nice time but great to be home and I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight.
Friday we got there and Kenn and Denise had a grilled chicken dinner for us. It was soooooo good.

Saturday we went to where my brother works and saw 4 of the Clydesdayle Horses, they are beautiful! A couple of them were out of the stable and romping around a little in a confined area. They gave us some entertainment! Then we saw some of the sites like the St. Louis Arch etc. I didn't get pictures of the arch this time as I had before. Saw the Cardinal Stadium. They were getting ready for todays Opening Ceremonies. Then we went back and stayed at the house. Caleb came over for awhile.

Then on Sunday we went to Caleb's house. It's a fixer which he is slowly but surely working on but a nice house. It will be really nice when done. Then all of us went to Josh and Elaina's and saw the biggest reason we went to MO. Chelsea Rose. She is now 2 months old and is a beautiful baby! Right now she seems to look like Josh.
I will post progress on stitching tomorrow or Wed. But right now I just wanted to post some pictures of Chelsea.

What a Week!

At least at the Food Pantry. We've been busy. I was there a little while this afternoon for 3 more ladies. Usually we are not open on Friday. We've had a lot of people come in but that's what it's for. I just hope our food holds out. Fortunately since we work under Love In The Name Of Christ Organization we get free food from them. Came in handy this past week and now we need more.

I did get quite a bit of progress on the Clown Face. He's about half way done now.

Tonight I'm going to a concert at a Coffee House our church Praise Team is putting on. I'm looking forward to it. They really are good.

Next weekend my brother and sister-in-law are taking our parents and me to MO. Our oldest brother lives down there with his family. We get to meet baby Chelsea for the first time. She'll be 2 months old next week.

Well....until next time Happy Stitching!

Finished

I finally have finished Faith. I'm not sure this is a really good picture of it. It was a fun piece to do but took a lot longer than I contemplated. It's my kind of piece though, small but detailed. Now to go back to the clown piece again.

The other day I read on someone's blog about Cyberstitchers. While the person had every right to be disappointed and to voice it I am disappointed by all the badmouthing the posters had. So I am going to say some good things about Cyberstitchers. For one thing it is free and they offer a whole lot at their site. They have received headaches from designers unhappy with something a person stitched or they got the name wrong etc. And have received criticism from other people who have rooms there. I'm not saying I agree with everything but the rules are there for a good reason and are not hard to follow. (Although I really don't see where this particular person broke any rules, she had a good room there and I will miss seeing her room as I enjoyed it. I will miss her there, and yes I do understand her side of the story too and her disappointment.) When I have had a problem with Anita she has responded very nicely and satisfactory. They have put a lot of time and work into the site for everyone to enjoy and it shows. So I don't feel she deserved to be badmouthed like she was from people who aren't even familiar with the site. After all the site is free she isn't charging anything, if we don't like it we can just delete our room and go on from there. Well I've had my say. Anyone who knows me knows I find good in everyone and do not tolerate bad mouthing too well. Enough said on that.

We are enjoying some spring like weather. The next week is suppose to be very springlike. I sure hope winter doesn't return as we are all going to be very upset! We are getting spoiled by the weather. I even walked my brother's dog, Autumn for an hour yesterday. It was so nice.

Well until next time Happgy Stitching. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you will continue reading it.

Update on Faith and an Award

KathrynNZ gave me this award. Thank you so much Kathryn I appreciate it, it was so nice of you. I need to select 8 friends to give it too so I will do so at the bottom of this post.

I haven't been home much this past week. My sister came to town on Thurs. so was with her at our parents Thurs. & Fri. Then Sat. our mom and I went to my sister's house until yesterday. It really was a nice time. I sort of spoiled their dog rotten. I didn't get in much stitching or computer time but wasn't planning to. I did go to a LNS not too far from her house. It's funny the first time we went it seemed like it was so far, second time we knew right where we were going and didn't seem nearly as far seemed like a quick trip. Kay and mom went into a Used Book Store right by the Crss Stitch Shop. I did get a few things.

Then on way home we stopped off at my niece Heather's house. Kay babysits Addie every other Wed. so Tim and Wendy picked mom and I up there. Addie is now 10 months and is walking. She was so cute yesterday she knew she was center of attention. Heather taught Addie to say "ah oh....." Bryan taught Addie to say "ai ya yaya ai". She also can say her name and her dog's name but you have to know she is saying it and se your imagination but she gives it a good try. Not bad for being so young!

When I did stitch I stitched on the clown as it was easy to stitch on in the car and easy to lay down and pick up. ButI have gone back to the Faith piece and hope to finish it off Friday for sure if not tomorrow. I really like this piece a lot.

Here is the clown piece which really is an easy stitch. Just a lot of white in it but it's moving along.

Before I cloe here are the 8 I'll pass this award too. It was hard to pick as I enjoy all the blogs but these are the 8 I will choose just click on their names from my blog roll on side to see their blogs.

Mary Ann (Just Stitching)
Beth
Dawn (Tea Time)
Dawn (Golden Angel Stitches)
Barb (Barb's Stitches)
Deb (Deb S)
Lori (Loriray)
Cathy (Pumpkin Patch & Co)
Those are my 8. Until next time Happy Stitching!

Yet another new start

Does this look like a wedding piece though? I hope not, it is for a Friendship Quilt. It has some flowers and the word Faith and 2 more roses on it. I took it as a religious piece. It's so pretty. I love it. I needed a break from the clown.

Sat. my mom and I are going to my sister's house for about 3 days. We'll be back Tuesday early evening. She babysits baby Addie every other Wed. so we'll go to Heather's and my brother will pick us up from there. We get to see Addie again!

Well-until next time Happy Stitching!

Progress on clown

This is progress after 34 hours of stitching on it. It's starting to come to life now. I confess this is not a piece I would normally choose but for some reason it caught my eye. It is a lot of fun to stitch even if it has so much orange. A little later a lot of white comes in so that'll be interesting.

Things really have been quiet around here. Now that the weather is better for now I've been taking Autumn (my brother's dog) for walks a little more and she likes that. I finally am getting over the cold I had, the cough is much better now. I've been taking sinu tab and that is finally working better.

Well-I'm going to go read some blogs until next time Happy Stitching!

Monday, March 02, 2009

Another new start

I'm still working on the music piece but also doing this clown piece. I've been wanting to do a Circus piece and when a Circus Quilt came up at Love Quilts I signed up for it. This isn't my typical style of piece but it caught my eye. It will be a clown face when all done.

Speaking of circuses, Johnny went to one last week and had a ball. Here is a picture of him and Teacup the clown. He even got to ride an elephant which he loved. You can tell by the look on his face (in picture with his dad) that Johnny is just loving everything!

Our weather is warming up some now. By the end of the week we are suppose to be 40's and most of our snow will be gone. By the way, how are those of you out east? I heard about all that snow that hit.

Well, until next time, Happy Stitching!

Addie and a New Start

I finally got permission to post a picture of Addie. In this picture she is really interested in something out the window. My suspision is maybe the dog or mommy or daddy?

I love this picture of Heather and Addie. Heather is my niece.. and Addie's mommy.

Today my nephew, Bryan is getting married in Jamaica. Chrissy's mother wanted them to get married on a tropical island so they chose Jamaica. Wish I could be there, but we'll get to see lots of pictures. I'm wondering how Addie did on the plane yesterday. A 9 month old baby sitting still that long. Not this one anyway. She'll be 10 months old Sunday.

I started this cute music piece a few days. I've only been working on it a little each day. It's for a music quilt at Love Quilts.

Tim and Wendy are back from AL now. They got home yesterday afternoon, and had a wonderful time. It was something both needed and Tim got to get his oldest two sons again and meet the grandchildren.

Wel until next time Happy Stiching!

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Another quick finish

This was a quick, easy finish. Once I got the snowflakes done it went real easy. The snow flakes would have been easier on darker material. But it needed to be done on white. I really enjoyed doing this piece.

Tomorrow my sister and brother-in-law leave for Jamaica for a week. Their son, Bryan is getting married down there. So their family will all be there a few days. Michelle and Scott and Heather and Brian and Addie will fly down there Thurs. or Friday. The wedding is Friday but they could only have so much time off from work. Heather and Bryan teach middle school and Michelle and Scott are college professors.

Our weather is getting nice again. It's that time of year the weather is going to go back and forth. Later today I'll probably go to my parents and walk Autumn. Now the weather is nice she wants to go outside more.

There really isn't much going on so until next time Happy Stitching!

Friends Come in all Shapes & Spices

I've been eyeing this piece for about 3 or 4 years now, but just never had anything to do it for. Finally a snowman quilt came up at CSFC so I thought I would do this for it. Only problem it has to be done on white material. White on white isn't the most fun to do. Although the snowman is going very easily the snowflakes on the side and bottom were horrible to do, and you really can't see them. I love doing this piece though it is so cute.

Tim and Wendy are done in AL now. Good place as here it is cold and snowy all day we are to get 8 up to 8 inches of snow but I don't think we'll get it. They said the worse part of their trip down there was Northern IN it took an hour to go 20 mles. Tim says Jake and Nate look exactly alike amd he has to look twice to tell them apart. Hopefully he'll have a nice visit with the boys and their families and this will be something they can do every years.

Well, not much else has happened since Thursday so until next time Happy Stitching!

Finish No 12

I finished this a little while ago. It is from a very old book, I stitched another piece in it about 24 years ago honest. But I thought this was pretty, I liked the colors in it and thought it appropriate for the surprise friendship quilt we are doing at 123 stitch.

This time I am stitching smaller pieces and going through the 25 challenge quicker so should be able to make it. In fact since I have close to a 1,000 books (collected down through the years), and have only stitched from less then 200 of them I discovered the other day, I should make 25 books I haven't stitched from. That shouldn't be hard either as 9 of the books I hadn't stitched from.

I have my next piece all kitted up ready to start tomorrow. It also will be a quick piece. It is a snowman and gingerbread man by San Man Originals. I'm doing it for a Snowman quilt we are doing at CSFC.

I am feeling quite a bit better. I even went to the Food Pantry at church today to work. Came home, slept for an hour finished this and then kitted up the next piece.
Now to do dishes!

Well---until next time Happy Stitching!

Another new start

I couldn't handle the heart piece so laid it down. Unfortunately that will turn into a UFO I'm afraid. I started this piece a few days ago. But most of it was stitched yesterday and a couple of hours this morning. This will go to the surprise quilt we are doing at 123 stitch.

I just kept getting sicker and sicker as the days got by and just couldn't stitch. Finally went back to the Dr. on Monday and got an antibiotic and more prednizone. The prednizone didn't kick in at all last week but we thought maybe with an antibiotic and a stronger dose of prednizone it would help and I think it has. I have 2 more days of it after today we only went with 5 days of both. Hopefully that is long enough. But today is better than what I've been in a few weeeks. Monday I was so bad, Wendy came over Monday night and said forget it you are going to mom and dad's they are expecting you. So I stayed there that night so if I had problems someone would be there. I really appreciated that even though at time I resisted going as I didn't want mom and dad to catch my bronchitis.

Tomorrow Tim and Wendy are going down south. Tim hasn't seen his sons in 6 years. They lost contact with each other for awhile but then last year Tim found them and since they have been talking often. This will be Wendy's first time meeting the boys. Well they are grown now. Both Jake, and Nate have 2 children each that Tim hasn't seen yet. Exciting time for Tim he can't wait to go. I doubt it will take 6years for them to see each other again.

Next week my sister and her family are all heading for Jamaca. Her son, Brian is getting married down there. Brian's future in-laws really wanted them to get married in a foreign destination, guess they wanted a reason to travel? So Brian ad Chrissy chose Jamaca. We hope baby Addie does okay on the plane, she's 9 months will be 10 months 1st of March. She's never still when she's awake, always on the go so this may be a long plane ride.

Well, no more news right now so until next time. Happy Stitching!

Friday, February 13, 2009

Another finish

I just finished this not to long ago. It really took longer than I expected as it had so much detail to it but I loved doing it. I love small pieces with details. This will go to a baby memorial quilt.

This weekend I have two birthday get togethers to go to so it will be fun. My nephew, Andrew turns 14 next week so we're celebrating it tomorrow, and my brother, Kevin's birthday is Sunday, so I'm going to his house Sunday afternoon.

Little Addie is now 9 months old and keeping her parents hopping. She is on the verge of walking and does climb steps by holding on to the rails and climbinb her way up. Needless to say she's not left alone.

Johnny is in a big boy bed now so anyone who comes over to his house or his grandparents he takes up stairs to see the new bed. He has a new bed at both places and thinks that is great.

The other day I picked up food I ordered for our Food Pantry from Love in the Name of Christ. As we work with them on our Food Pantry. Problem is they don't send as many people as we would like. I only ordered a little food and you wouldn't believe all the food we got! Our Pantry is full for a while.

Well,until next time, Happy Stitching!

Some progress on the heart & Firetruck

It's coming slow but sure. I have laid it down until this weekend to finish the firetruck and start the birds if this piece doesn't work out. Which right now I have my doubts. My sister did get me a magnifyer glass and that has helped some.

We have enjoyed a nice couple of days. I even got to take Autumn out for a walk yesterday afternoon. We walked well over an hours but it was nice. Both Tim and Wendy were sick yesterday so she didn't get out until then. I'm hoping to walk her this morning too. It's suppose to rain this afternoon. Hopefully Tim and Wendy are feeling better today. They had Tim's son, Andrew, over the weekend and he had the flu so they caught it from him.

Tomorrow is suppose to be in the 30's that's down from the 50's but still a whole lot better then we had last week even.

Here is the firetruck after 20 hours of stitching. The dog is partially up there but you can't make him out yet.

This weekend I have two birthday celebrations to go to. Tim and Wendy are having a surprise party for Andrew on Sat. and Sunday is my brother, Kevin's birthday so we are going to their house late Sun. afternoon. We are also having a board game day at church Sat. I'm not sure I'll get to that.

Last week I ordered a little food from Love Inc. for our food pantry not expecting to get as much as I ordered even. We picked it up yesterday and we got 4 times as much as I ordered! They said they had lots on stock right now and needed to distribute it so they were very generous. So I got to our food pantry and tried reorganizing everything to get it all to fit. I think I'm going to be kicking Adventure club out and move them next door I need their space! Tomorrow I need to do more reorganizing to get it all to fit. Anyone walk into the room now it's a mess and the Adventure Club leaders will find that out tonight!
Well, I have 3 loads of washing to do, one load is in dryer now and another in washer, plus need to get some housework done so better sign off. Until next time Happy Stitching!

Saturday, February 07, 2009

Another new start

I started this firetruck the other day for a baby memorial quilt. They wanted the color blue or anything to do with baby boys. All boys like firetrucks and they lik dogs so I thought this would be a cute piece. It's by Diane Arthurs of Imaginating.
I am still working on the heart piece. My sister bought me a small magnifying lamp to clip on to the pattern and that has made a big difference. So much easier to see and read. I may just get an ott lamp sometime in the future.

These past few days have been busy so I haven't had much time for stitching. My sister was in town for a couple of days so Thursday afternoon and Friday morning I was with her and mom. We went to the mall shopping, played games, etc. Thursday I was so sick though, my asthsma was flaring up something awful. I've had this stupid cough for a couple of weeks now carried over from my cold. It's been a long time since I've felt like this. We also went into Hobby Lobby as I needed floss. While in there I saw a board game I had never seen before and if I had the money for it I would have bought it. It was Stitchopoly. I had never seen it before. Maybe next year. This year I'm trying very hard not to use my credit cards unless an emergency;, (like if my teeth go bad, or if I have to take my cat to the Vet, etc.) So far I've been very good but the year is still young.

Our weather is getting better! Yesterday was 30 and today is already 40. It'll be 30's and 40's for the next week! Maybe it'll melt the snow. I love seeing the icicles melt off the roof. Most of them are gone except for a couple that got really thick.

Well, until next time......Happy Stitching!

Some Progress on Floral Heart

It's going very slow. The pattern is not an easy one at all. I work on it a couple of hours a day, and then if there is time I do a much easier project. Fortunately this heart is not all the big so hopefully it will be done end of Feb. beginning of March.

I don't know but Spring must be closer than we think. My allergies are having a field day. Granted I still have the cough from my cold. But man this sneezing al the time especially in the mornings!

My sister is coming in to town later today. I'll see her tomorrow. It's suppose to be nice out so we may take our mom out to the mall and walk around somewhat. I'm also hoping to go to Joanne's or Hobby Lobby get some floss and look for a magnifying glass, hopefully that will make this pattern easier to read!

Well...until next time Happy Stitching!

Oregon State Map Finished

I finished this about an hour ago. This is 2nd of 4 state maps I'm doing for my niece Michelle. They aren't my favorite to do so good thing they are easy and go quick.

Last Thursday, Chelsea Rose was born to my nephew, Joshua and his wife Elaina. I've seen pictures of her and she's a cutie. I can't wait to go to MO in April and see her. She was born a couple weeks early but she's fine. She is my parents 8th great grand child.

If most of the winter days were like yesterday and today this winter would have been more tolerable. It is beautiful out there. It is suppose to be cold the next two days then warm up Thurs. I think the worse of winter is behind us. In Feb the sun is up higher too, so that gives us nicer days. And as I've said before I love seeing the days get longer/.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Whiskers and Two new starts

It's been quite sometime since I've posted a picture of Whiskers. If he had his way he'd be on my bed all night and I would be on the floor! But he gets it during the afternoons. He was sleeping until I came in with the camera and he hates having his picture taken. He is 16 now and sleeping is his favorite past time.

The first one is Oregon State Map by Sue Hillis. This one probably will be done at the end of the week. It is part of 4 maps I'm doing for my niece, Michelle. The first one, Michigan was done last year, I have to do New York and Colorado yet. Not my usual kind of a project or my favorite but they are easy to do.

This one I just love I think it is so pretty. It is very slow going as I almost need a magnifying glass to read the pattern! So I'll try to buy one next week. I really do enjoy this one. It will be a heart when finished and will go to a special quilt we are doing at 123 stitch. There isn't a whole lot done on yet, but as time goes on you'll see more of it. I actually think I will be doing 3 easy pieces while working on this. I tend to spend mornings on this (although taking two days off because of the business of earlier today and tomorrow, so will work on map which is much easier when I can stitch.) I love doing this heart though and can't wait to see it come to life.
I am so glad this is the end of January. Fortunately the days have gone quickly but weather wise it's been a long month. At least we aren't getting the ice storms of the east. Stay safe those of you out there. We are going to be getting warmer weather I think starting tomorrow although it is suppose to snow tomorrow. The weekend is suppose to be nice. Maybe I'll get to walk my brother's dog, I miss her!
I don't know about you, but I get excited to seeing the days get longer! I almost make a game of it.
Well until, next time Happy Stitching

A quick easy finish

Thank you for all your comments to Taking It Easy. It was such a fun stitch I'm glad you liked it. Also thank you for reading my blog. I enjoy so many blogs and am thankful to have so many readers to my blog.

This was probably the fastest piece I've done in a long time a whole 5 hours. I had problems with the sun and never did get that right though! If all my pieces were this easy getting to 25 would be easier and wouldn't take so long! This will go to a girl at Love Quilts who chose Inspirational as theme of her Quilt. I have my next piece all kitted up, it's a heart for a surprise quilt we are doing at 123 stitch.

Since I just posted yesterday there isn't much to say so until next time....Happy Stitching!

Taking It Easy is Finished

I finished this about an hour ago. I loved working on this piece and am so happy with how it turned out. This will be mailed out early next week and go to a young boy at Love Quilts. His story is sad his mother tried to smother him as an infant and it left him brain damaged, blind and multihandicapped. Needless to say his dad and step mother are raising him. Why do people do that to such innocence. Granted babies cry but that's what they do. I could never imagine anyone in our family doing that to their babies. They are or were too good of mothers.

I'm finally feeling a little better. I'm coughing a lot but at least I'm not miserable like I was Tues, Wed, and Thurs.

Last night my brother and sister in law had everyone over for dinner to celebrate dad's 80th birthday which was earlier this month. Since I didn't get to go a plate was sent home for me, so I had a good turkey dinner last night and today.

Well, I'm going to go kit up my next piece, for a girl at Love Quilts. I had planned to stitch something else for her but couldn't find the book! Grrr....isn't that the story of my life. Usually it shows up later though , Until next time Happy Stitching!

One Last Update on Taking It Easy

I hope to finish this Friday morning. If I stitched hard on it it would be tomorrow but I don't think so. I'm anxious to get this done and start on my next project a heart.

Today all I want to do is stitch a few hours then sleep, stitch a couple of more hours and sleep again. I seem to have caught a bad cold the other day and today I'm feeling it. I had the sore throat all day yesterday and again today. I'm hoping to get to the store and get some tablets for the throat and maybe sinutab.

We are warming up a little tomorrow and Friday are suppose to be great and then another deep freeze for 3 days then warm up again. Only 10 more days left to Jan. Hopefully Feb. will be a little warmer and less snow. Although we are well on our way to breaking the snow record, we might as well break it.

Well until next time Happy Stitching!

Update on Taking It Easy

I've stitched a lot on this the past few days and hopefully by end of next week it will be done. It is such a fun piece I hate to see it end.

I decided to change my template as the other was too dark. Fine for Nov. and Dec. but it's bad enough outside, I wanted to lighten my template up a little. In sprin a different one will go up.

I didn't go anywhere much this week and I didn't get to walk my brother's dog. It was too cold out there. Like much of the country we got caught in the deep freeze. Today it is snowing hard out too so it's nasty. Tomorrow it is suppose to start getting better out there. Hope so. The rest of the winter owes the nation to be better!

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Lots more progress

I am real happy with how well this is progressing and moving. Yes, I've had to do some frogging. But for a Stoney Creek piece it is moving quite smoothly and quickly. I love working on it and seeing it come to life. At rate I'm going I will have it done sometime over the weekend! This is progress after 40 hours of stitching!

Yesterday someone gave me well over 100 Cross Stitch Books at church, most of them I did not have. They were older but good ones. I had a hard time getting through the church service. I couldn't wait to get home and look at them all! She said she would never be stitching again so gave them to me. Most of the books were in excellent shape too. I loved it. I was like a little kid at Christmas when I got home.

Also last night we had a concert at church by a man who I knew since we were kids going to Center Lake Bible Camp, then later at Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music. It was a good concert. It was great talking to him and his wife and brought back so many memories of GRSBM

We have been lucky as far as the storms go the last couple of times. We were just a little north of them. We may get hit a little with the next two but not as bad as most of the areas. We are going into the deep freeze for a few days then suppose to warm up later in the week. I really am ready for spring!

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

New Start

Can you tell this is going to be a horse? Hopefully it's starting to look like one. This is called "Taking It Easy" by Stoney Creek, in the book Majesty in Motion. I just love doing this piece. It is so detailed yet small enough to be fun. I've had to frog a little but that's why you do it across and don't let the left side get too far ahead of the right side. It's easier to see the mistake and frog it.

Does anyone know of any patterns of small crosses that can be done into Christmas Tree Ornaments? My brother e mailed me today and asked me if I would do about 8 crosses for their Christmas Tree. I have cross patterns but not that small.

Well this is a short post but not much is going on right now so until next time Happy Stitching!

Precious Momens Princess finished

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a Happy and Safe New Years. Mine was quiet, I watched the Rose Bowl Parade New Year's Day. It's really not a big day to me.
I finally finished this piece about an hour ago. I am so happy to have it done.
This will go to a young girl at Love Quilts who chose Princess's as her theme.
We had our family Christmas this past Friday. Of course the 3 little ones stole the show. Ashton is 5, Johnny 2, and Addison is now 8 months old. They are growing so fast. Ashton was great with the younger two, who seemed to fight over toys. Whatever Johnny had Addie wanted. It's funny how young they learn that. We were at Addie's house and they were her toys. Johnny finally resorted to put whatever he wanted to play with in the basket of mom's walker and go to another room to play with it. Funny! Got to love the little ones!

Well, I have to leave for church before long so until next time Happy Stitching!

Update on Love is Reflected

I'm quite sure this will not be done tomorrow, so I thought I would update now. (Besides I wanted 88 posts in 2008 and this is no. 88 so my last post for the year). I've had to do a lot of frogging on this piece but in end will be cute. I really am enjoying the piece. I have to figure out what I will do next but sort of think I will either go back to The Caretaker, or do another Love Quilts piece or start my great nieces birth sampler.

I'm so frustrated. I ordered 4 pattern books and they came yesterday. One was for a RAK and I laid it down. I went to get it 5 minutes later and still cannot find it! I am claming the couch ate it r the cat ran off with it! It's one of those mysteries. I hope it shows up!

This Friday we are having our family Christmas. It was really the only time we could do it and then it's going to be tight for some people as they have to work that day, or leave that night for work the next day. One isn't going to be able to make it because of work. The rest are out of state.

How many of you have stitching goals for 2009? I have some:
1) To finish what I start (no UF0 start)
2) To do a Thomas Kinkaide picture
3) To do a Majolein Bastian piece
4) Work more on The Caretaker
5) Do some family stitching (birth samplers and wedding sampler)
6) To stitch one Ornament a month
7) To do at least 7 pieces for Love Quilts
Is this ambitious? I hope it's realistic. We'll see how I do.

I hope you all have a Happy New Year and a great 2009. See you next year. Until then Happy Stitching!

Precious Moments Start

I hope you all had a nice Christmas. I just went to my parents house with my brother and sister-in-law for a few hours. We unwrapped gifts, then visited and came home. We didn't have a big Christmas dinner. We were going to but just didn't. It was nice and quiet and enjoyable.

Thank you for all the comments to Bethlehem. I really appreciated them. I love getting comments to my blog, especially from other stitchers, I often go to the different blogs and think, "oh they do such great stitching!" and feel jealous as I see all the errors in my stitching.

I started this cute piece the other day and is going good. It's been a while since I've done a Precious Moments piece and when I saw there was a little girl at Love Quilts who wanted Princess's as her quilt theme and it was due Feb. 1, I thought I would sign up and do this one. It'll be done in plenty of time. For some reason we just aren't getting the signups we once did at Love Quilts.

Today is a descent day right now. I may go out and walk Autumn (my brother's dog) in about an hour. I miss walking her but it's been so cold and nasty.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Bethlehem is finished

I finished Bethlehem about an hour ago. It was fun to stitch but I am happy to have it finished. I did it on 14 count Oppascent material using Gentle Arts Lavender Potpori. I think the picture shows it darker than what it actually is.
Now I have gotten out a Precious Moments Princess to do for a little girl at Love Quilts.

We have been hit by the winter storms. Right now we have almost 2 feet of snow on the ground if not two feet. We are suppose to get hit by another storm tomorrow. Today is a break. That is if you call Lake Effect snow a break! It isn't snowing right now though, it's more off and on. At least we still have power. It's suppose to warm up after Christmas but this weekend is suppose to be sleet and snow. Deal with it then I guess. Yesterday just about all the churches were not meeting (ours was one of them). Also it was so bad yesterday in our county they pulled the snowplows off the roads for a while anyway. We are going to have a White Christmas! We have enough snow this year to make up for the last 2 years of little snow.

Until next time Happy Stitching!

Almost finished and Winter Storm

I'm almost done with Bethlehem. I'm anxious to get it done. I love doing it but just monotonous in parts.

We are getting hit by another winter storm. This is the first of 3 storms to hit us between now and Tues. Guess we are being guaranteed of a White Christmas. I really thought the storm was missing us as I woke up at 6 and it didn't look like it was here but it was blowing a lot. Now it's well underway. Glad my sister beat the storm and arrived safely yesterday. She will probably go home tomorrow to beat the next storm. Although the next one doesn't sound like it will be as bad as this one it's just the add on that's bad. We are expected to get 6-10 inches of fresh snow from this storm. Not as much as first forecasted but areas south and east of us will get more and some will get ice too. Not nice today hopefully it'll clear out by the SS class party tonight.

Today I'm going to my parents where my sister and I are going to do some Christmas baking and play games with mom. Yesterday we finished off our Christmas shopping before the storm hit. Nice to have it done.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Update on Bethlehem

I have gotten quite a bit further on Bethlehem. It's moving along fast now that the middle section is done.

Saturday we had Johnny's birthday party. It was fun and noisy. I think there was something like 10 children there all under 10. Most of them were Johnny's cousins on his dad's side. He got some nice toys. His cake was so cute. Melissa made it as a dump truck and then John frosted it. They had a picture of Johnny right in the window to make it look like he was driving. All the hours put into the cake and how fast it disappeared! LOL! We had a taco dinner which was soooooo good!

Today is terrible outside! My dad and I were going to go to a funeral and we probably should have gone but with it so nasty out we didn't want dad to be be out in this let alone drive! I'm sure the two daughters understood. As far as the weather goes, it sounds lik we are guaranteed a White Christmas as there is a lot of snow and cold in the forecast. I haven't been walking Autumn because of the nasty weather lately and I miss her. I'm going to try to get over to my brother's just to see her. He only lives on the opposite end of the sidewalk of me which is maybe a whole block by taking the sidewalk 2 or 3 blocks going the other way.

Well, until next time Happy Stitching!

Bethlehem is underway

Not sure why the picture is so dark unless it's because it's still dark outside, but I scanned it so it shouldn't have made a difference. This is my progress after about 24 hours of stitching. I really am enjoying these pieces, but I think this is the last of these I'll do for a while. I had thought I might do 3 Kings this year but think I will wait until next year. Besides I don't have the material I want to do it on. I did Winter Silhouette and this piece on Oppascent material and want to use that for 3 kings too. I am using Lavender Potpori by Gentle Arts as the thread.

There was a big celebration in our town last night. I didn't go and am not much of football fall but 4 of our High School Teams won the State Championships a couple of weeks ago so the city held a big celebration for them last night. They said it had never happened anywhere before and might not again so the officials held a big party for them. Nice and exciting for the kids. By the news it was a huge turnout.

Today is going to be another messy day. We had a foot of snow fall on Sat. alone on top of what we already had and it snowed Sunday. Yesterday was so nice I got to walk my brother's dog, and she enjoyed it. She wouldn't go in the snow over her head so we just walked on the sidewalks as they were plowed and shoveled. Now today we could get up to another foot of snow by the time this storm ends tomorrow. South of us is suppose to get ice. I'll take the snow over the ice.

Tis the season for birthdays and anniversaries in our family. Between the 11th and 24th we have 9 birthdays and anniversaries. If our grandfather and an aunt were alive there would be 11. Plus if you count my second mom who since died, the day my first cat died, the day I got Whiskers, and the day I broke my ankle that would be 14events all in that short time. I can't believe Johnny will be two Thursday and that I will have Whiskers 16 years on the 17th. Time flies so fast. Sat. we are having a party for Johnny.

There are a number of Christmas parties to go to in the coming days too. So it's a busy time of year for everyone. This season seems to be busier then ever. Oh an update on my mom and brother. My mom is doing okay yesterday she got out of the house for the first time in a while. She still has a problem with falling easily. My brother we found out it was a severe sinus infection causing his problems and is doing better now.

Well until next time Happy Stitching!

Snow Ho Ho is Finished

I loved doing this piece. It was so much fun. I did this as a SAL with Dawn (Tea Time) but she left me in the dust. She finished her's last week. I'm not much for Santa's but this one caught my eye and I had to do it. He has a frosty secret! Since we have so much snow on the ground this was very timely!

Well- until next time Happy Stitching.

One more finish

Thankfulness is now finished. I should be finished with Snow Ho Ho tomorrow, that is if I get enough done on it today. Then I can start Bethlehem. I think I told you I decided to do it in lavender and do The Three Kings in dark blue. I don't know if the Theree Kings will be done this year or next. Depends on how Bethlehem goes.

We got hit with a snowstorm so now I'm thinking "White Christmas". We had about 5 inches fall overnight. So not too bad.

Yesterday my dad took mom to ER as her hip was giving her so much pain. She fell 2 or 3 weeks ago and broke her pelvis bone. At the time her hip wasn't hurting. Fortunately it turned out to be muscle spasms. We are so thankful her hip wasn't broken. She's been through so much through the years. We are also concearned about my brother as he falls down a lot and really his muscles seem to be weak. He had a MRI last week and hopefully will know the results today or tomorrow. I just hope it's not real serious, maybe some new medication. Last week they stayed at my parents house 3 nights as Tim was too weak to climb the steps. Sat. he did go home and made the steps alright but is staying up there. Not going down the steps unless he has too.

I can't believe this is Dec. already. We have something like 11 birthdays and anniversaries between Dec. 11 and 24! I'm not kidding! So it's a big month.

Well, until next time (hopefully tomorrow) Happy Stitching!
